The two figures seated at the head personify the \u201cmagnanimous ruler\u201d (pater patriae) and \u201ctrue faith\u201d (religio). Visible behind them is a tablet with the prince\u2019s monogram. The haloed figure of Nike, goddess of victory, points to heaven, to which the soul of the deceased duke ascends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The duke\u2019s magnificent sarcophagus is contrasted by the simple wooden coffin next to it.
