On the east side of the dining room was a niche with a “Schenck table” (buffet). In the Baroque period, representative ceramics and tableware were presented in this place. This is shown in the visualisation. However, there is no information on the shape of the Weißenfels showcase niche.
In addition to the “Golden Horn”, the so-called “Weißenfels Hunting Cup” was one of the prized objects of the Princely House of Weißenfels. It may have been used as a welcoming vessel for distinguished guests.
The coat of arms and the intertwined “CCC” monogram prove that the cup belonged to Duke Christian. It was created by the brothers Georg Christoph, Johann Melchior and Georg Friedrich Dinglinger from Dresden, who were court artists to the Saxon Elector Augustus the Strong (reigned 1694–1733). It can be assumed that it was a gift from the Saxon Elector to Christian, presumably on the occasion of his inauguration in 1712. The creation of the magnificent goblet can be dated to the period between 1712 and 1720. After the extinction of the Weißenfels dukes, the hunting trophy went to the electoral treasury in Dresden. Today it can be seen in the New Green Vault.
